2008

 

April 13, 2008 -- Ziip(!!!) earns his first Senior Hunter leg at the Rogue Valley Retriever Club Hunt Test in White City, OR -- On the way home from the FCRSA National Specialty, we attended the second day of a double-header near Medford, Oregon, where Zip(!!!) and Joe earned their first SH.  Thanks to judges Nikki Berthold-Illias & David Illias!

April 4-6, 2008 -- Gustav & Zip had a great time at the FCRSA National Specialty field events in Gervais, Oregon --

April 4 -- NEW TITLE!!!  Gustav and David Kunkle earned their fourth and final Junior Hunter leg, under judges Mary Beth Lamb & Nikki Berthold-Ilias. 

April 5 -- NEW TITLE!!!  Gustav and David Kunkle earn their Working Certificate under judges Nikki Illias & Beverly Higgins

April 5 -- NEW TITLE!!!  Zip(!!!) & Joe earn their Working Certificate Excellent under judges Jim Morris & Boyd Ulsh

April 6 -- Gustav & Zip(!!!) earn Judges Awards of Merit in the FCRSA Steady Singles competition.  The judges were George Tookey & Robin Rawls

These boys just turned two a few weeks ago, and were the youngest competitors in the Steady Singles events.  Congratulations to the Kunkles for an excellent performance!

 

March 8, 2008 -- Gustav & David Kunkle earned their third Junior Hunter leg at the Hills Ferry HRC in Los Banos.  The judges were Ron Sauls & Deborah Tandoc.  They're three for three, and hope to finish their JH title at the FCRSA specialty next month in Oregon.

 

February 16th, 2008 Gustav and David Kunkle earned their second Junior Hunter leg at the Monterey Bay Hunt Test under judges Chris Dotson & Laurna Cote

 

2007

November 11, 2007 -- Gustav earns his first Junior Hunter leg at the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles  -- Gustav travelled with his family to Prado for their first Junior test, and passed with flying colors!  He even demonstrated that he understood handling concepts!  Congratulations to David & Kelly Kunkle and thanks to judges Trudy Soneson & Jeanne Collier! 

 

Early September, 2007 -- Pete has a hot date... with Ch Rockyhill's Western Sky -- "Sky".  Pete is eleven years old, and we are optimistic that he will be the proud father of a new litter of pups in November. 

 

September 9, 2007 -- Gustav earns a fifth place in the finals of the SplashDogs Pittsburg Plunge!

August 25, 2007 -- Gustav achieves a new personal best at the Nevada State Fair Splashdogs event in Reno, NV.  He jumped 20'1" placing first in that wave, and then placed tenth in the Pro Finals.  Gustav is owned and loved by David & Kelly Kunkle.

August 13, 2007 -- Pete celebrates his eleventh birthday!  He is now an official member of the FCRlist Super Seniors.  Pete celebrated his special day with extra strawberries, pool diving (rather than dock diving) and steak for dinner.  Here's to many more birthdays for our special guy!

 

August 4, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his championship!  Zip(!!!) is now Ch Ardenwood's As Time Goes By JH WC.  He finished with his third major (three points) under Judge Peter A. Frost from Hawthorne, Australia 

 

June 13, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) takes third place in the 2007 FCRSA Specialty 12-18 month class in Rochester, Minnesota.  The judge was Pluis Davern, of Royal Oaks, CA

June 12, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) wins fourth place in the 2007 FCRSA Specialty puppy sweepstakes, in the 12-15 month class.  Jennifer Stanley of Huntlane Flat-coated Retrievers was the judge.

June 11, 2007 -- Molly takens third place in the Excellent B Standard & Excellent B Jumpers with Weaves 20 inch competition at the FCRSA National Specialty.  This is her 26th Double Q! 

June 10, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his Working Certificate (WC) at the FCRSA National Specialty.  He is now Ardenwood's As Time Goes By JH WC!

June 9, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns a fourth-place in the FCRSA Unsteady Singles B field competiton. 

May 27, 2007 -- Gustav competes and places in dock diving.  Gustav, owned and loved by David & Kelly Kunkle placed sixth in the SplashDogs Bay Area Rock the Dock dock diving competition with a personal best jump of eighteen feet one inch.  Yeah, Gustav!  You can see a photo of Gustav's jump here

 

April 22, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his second major.  Zip earned his second four-point major at the Chief Solano Kennel Club show in Vallejo.  The judge was Mr. Terry Stacy, and Zip(!!!) was handled to the win by Sandy Hughes-Mellen of Rockyhill Flatcoats.  You can see a photo of the two in action here. 

That win puts Zip(!!!) at twelve points and both majors.  He needs three single points to earn his Championship.

April 15, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his Junior Hunter title.  Zip earned his fourth JH leg at the Rogue Valley Retriever Club Hunt Test in White City, OR.  At not yet thirteen months, this is quite an accomplishment!

 

April 14, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his third Junior Hunter Leg.  We traveled north to the Retriever Club Hunt Test in White City, OR to support their double header hunt test, and despite the cold heavy rains, Zip(!!!) earned his third junior leg.  One more to go.

 

March 19, 2007 --  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the first Ardenwood litter.  We will be posting new photos of the pups and their families soon.

 

March 18, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) takes two more points, going Best of Breed from the puppy class!  He showed beautifully.  Judge Connie Gerstner Miller said he was a very nice puppy, and put him up over two lovely specials.  He didn't make the cut in group, but looked like he belongs there!

 

March 17, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) takes another point toward his championship at the Skyline Dog Fanciers Of San Mateo County show.  He also took Best Flatcoat Puppy and a Puppy Group Two, earning a rosette that matches his coat color.

 

March 11, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his second junior hunter leg at the Hills Ferry HRC hunt test at Los Banos, California.  At 11-months old Zip(!!!) is two for two, picking up his second leg with Joe handling him.  One of the judges sang "Zippity Do Dah" as Zip retrieved his marks.   Wow.  Our puppy has his own theme song.  How cool is that? 

Joe checked with the judges after they had finished reviewing their score sheets.  They awarded Zip(!!!) four tens for each of the four marks! We are very proud of our little liver guy.  His first JH leg, a 4-point major and a puppy group four at ten months, and a second JH leg at eleven months.  What a fun little dog!  Grandpa Pete (Ch Bolingbroke Unbounded Wimsey JH WC) and father Slyde (Ch Rockyhill's Landslyde) have certainly passed on their drive, love of birds and perseverance to Zip(!!!).   The judges were very complimentary. 

 

February 17, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) earns his first junior hunter leg at the Monterey Bay HRC hunt test at Los Banos, California.  At 10-months old Zip(!!!) was one of the youngest competitors at the test.  It was great to watch Zip(!!!) bust though heavy cover to bring the final duck back to Joe.

 

January 28, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) takes Reserve Winner's Dog to a 4-point major at Golden Gate Kennel Club.  He also takes best flatcoat puppy, followed by a Puppy Sporting Group IV, handled by Sandy Hughes-Mellen of Rockyhill Kennels. 
 

 

January 27, 2007 -- Zip(!!!) takes his first major at Golden Gate Kennel Club.  Judge Pleus Davern (who judged flatcoats at the Westminster Kennel Club last year) awarded Zip(!!!) a four-point major, one of two majors required to earn his championship.  He now has five points, one major.
